2009

Happy New Years! I was thinking about Christmas letters. We got all of these beautiful letters and photos from friends and family. I managed to send out a very nice card/photo of Katherine. I didn't add a special letter of our life in 2008 though. Why, you ask?? It has mostly has to do with time and vanity.

Time...I don't have as much as I used to. It's not as if I am special, most parents don't have much time. Vanity...I don't think people would care about the letter I sent. At least those who read the blog are making that choice.

At any rate, 2008 has been filled with housing adjustments, new school adjustments and our ever busy lives. I have made several attempts and writing an update. But then I realize I had to go back and read the archives to be reminded. So hear it is!

January - we got off to a good start in 2008. Katherine could say all her ABCs by sight. January is cold

February - filled with a nice Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, my Granddaddy Dreier passed away. He has certainly been missed this year.

March-Katherine and I spent a wonderful week in Galveston with Grandma Kathy and Ray-Ray

April - Katherine was sick quite a bit. We did have a very nice Easter though in Mexia. Mimi and Pappa enjoyed having the whole family in town!

May - My birthday, we were working hard to sell the house

June - Sold the house!!! Moved in with Grandma Kathy, Frank got a HUGE promotion at work. School is OVER! My first year of teaching is finished.

July - I took a 3 week workshop on writing, Frank was super busy at work because of the promotion. Katherine took swim lessons and we visited my Grandmother Dreier for a weekend. I also mourn the loss of Grandmother Nutt on the 1 year anniversary of her death.

August - School started. Katherine's Birthday!mKatherine loves her new school and enjoys her new friends! We are now living in a rent house in Granbury, Texas (

September - Frank's birthday! Hurricane Ike destroys Galveston.

October - Great Halloween! We also moved to Granbury finally!

November - super Thanksgiving....Frank and I find out I am pregnant. VERY exciting. I spend Thanksgiving holiday trying to not fall asleep the second I sit down.

December - We start the month off raising $3500 towards Michael's scholarship. Frank and I celebrate our 7 year anniversary! Christmas is wonderful.

So, there it is....2008 was super! I am hoping 2009 will be even better. A baby is on the way. Yea!

Whoa as me...

I'm sure this will get a "oh poor you." from my readers.

But....

Everyday, I lay down for a nap and get at least 2 hours of solid sleep....just like Katherine. What will I do when I go back to school? I think my students will notice if sleep the whole afternoon.

I just love my nap. I will miss it so.

Princess game

Frank and Katherine are playing the Disney Princess Wii game. Katherine's numchuck isn't exactly hooked up right now. Frank and I are doing the work until she can do it herself.

Katherine got to design her own princess and waves a magic wand. We just helped Ariel. Fun times~

Thanks for the cool game Bethany!!! :)

Happy Holidays!!

Mom, Dad and Grandmother arrived around 2:00 and the whirlwind began! Frank actually got off early so my stress level went down a bit. He ran some errands for me.

Katherine was so excited that Grandmother was here that she said Grandmother was her best friend. They played, and played, and played, and played. At 4:00, Mom, Dad and I went onto the church. Mom and Dad were kind enough to be handbell subs. At 4:30, we rehearsed....at 6:00, we played. The Christmas Eve service was absolutely beautiful. We headed home for tamales and an expectant visit from Santa.

When we got up on Christmas morning, Santa had come! He brought Katherine a Barbie Dream House and a dress up box. She walked in from her room, frowny and sleepy....when she hit the couch, and saw what Santa brought, that frown turned into huge smile. She let out a big, "WOW!" and started playing immediately. Grandma Kathy got there quickly after. Katherine stopped long enough to give hugs and open her other presents. Everyone was very generous!

Then the madness began! We opened all of our gifts, again....all the stuff we got was awesome! Among other wonderful things, Frank and I were given a new camera (pics soon) and $$ towards a fence for our house! WOO HOO! WOO HOO! WOO HOO!

Aunt Sue, Uncle Mike and Bethany got here about noon. We got to open more presents. Yea! By 2:30, a very nice Christmas dinner was served. We had ham, cheesy hashbrowns, sweet potatoes, sweet and sour green beans and rolls. Pie for desserts. I am proud to say that dinner was such a success that noone really wanted pie for a while!

By 4:00, the kitchen was clean and everyone was relaxing. I told Mom I wanted to lay down for 30 minutes. At 6:30, I woke up. Growing a baby takes a lot out of you! Grandmother took a nap too. Papa and Katherine played the whole time.

Unfortunately, Frank had to go back to work today. While Grandmother, Katherine, Mom and I went to Bells and the shoe store, Dad cleaned up our garage enough that we can park my Explorer in there. :) Isn't that great?????

We headed to El Chico for lunch. Then Katherine and I came home and my parents and Grandmother headed to Mexia. Again, I am going to miss naps when school starts again.

That was our wonderful Christmas! Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Good (pretty obvious) news

We have good news... Katherine is going to be a big sister!

I put obvious in the title because someone pointed out that I looked either pregnant or much "rounder" in our anniversary picture

I am due in July. So far, so good, I feel great!

Happy Holidays!

7 years!

Tonight, Frank and I were blessed to be able to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. 7 wonderful years!! We were discussing how far we have come in these 7 years. We have a beautiful home, super jobs and and even more super daughter.
We are sincerely happy! Our biggest argument as of late has been Christmas light placement. (Frank won, by the way, and they are lovely).
We both know how lucky we are to have found each other and feel even more lucky to have such a fantastic marriage.

Gina and Jeff babysat for us. We had a wonderful dinner at Miyako's Japanese Steak House. It is a fabulous hibachi grill in Granbury. Our 1st anniversary, we ate spaghetti at home, we've come a long way, baby.

Here is a photo we took very quickly before we left.

Ketchup, Catchup

I read my friend, Wendy's, blog and she has moved and redone a new house in 8 days + updated the blog. Guess I'm just not that good!

At any rate, last week was a complete blur. I was at work for 4 days and had Friday off. Katherine, Cowboy and I headed to Mexia on Thursday night. It was the Mistletoe and Magic Craft Fair in Mexia. Our family has the booth where we sell crafts in order to raise money for the Good Guy fund.

It was VERY successful! We raised over $3100. Talk about a rewarding feeling. 2 1/2 days of hard selling and it paid off... REALLY paid off!

This has been a good week so far. Katherine's vocabulary has increased and we can understand so much more of what she says now. It is so neat to have a conversation with her!

I'll be better in updating....I promise!
