Hide and Seek

Katherine loves to play Hide and Seek. She is pretty good at hiding although she giggles the whole time.

Hiding on our part is more of a challenge. When she counts so that one of us can hide, she goes over to her spot and covers her eyes. Then she says "1...6....9....OK, here I come!!" Then runs to find us. She is quick too. We have to hide fast.

Brag Moment

I have to brag on my dad. Usually, it is the other way around. Dad seems to always being bragging to someone about Katherine or me or Frank or Mom or all of us together.

If you remember, Mom, Katherine and I went on Christmas Eve to watch Dad play in Tuba Christmas. Well, the Star Telegram printed his photo with a bi-line. Cool! Go Dad

ABC, baby, it's 123!

Well, we made it through the week. My friend, Pam, is doing better. Thank you for your prayers.

On a different note, Katherine has learned her ABC's. She can say every letter...more specifically, she can point to each letter and tell me what they are by sight. (I mean, who would be amazed by a child who can repeat?)

At any rate, it's really all but one letter. It's the 'W' that gets her. If she points to it, she just kind of mumbles through it. But if she repeats after me it sounds like this.

"Katherine, can you say 'U'?"
"U!"
"OK, how about, V?"
"V!"
"Good! Now W."
"no"
"No? Come on, say W."
"no, Mama"
"Well, ok, how about X?"
"X!"
"Y and Z?"
"Y!, Z!"
"Good Job"

sigh.

Sad news

Please keep my friend, Pam, in your prayers. Pam is one of my team teachers.

Her son, Mason, was killed on Sunday in a sudden and tragic hunting accident. Pam, husband, Mike, and daughter, Michelle, will need your prayers for the very difficult times ahead.

We are all grieving the loss of a wonderful young man. The absence of this 19 year old Eagle Scout and 4H member will be greatly noticed in our school and the community surrounding us. He had a strong faith in God and loved his family with a fierce passion that we should all model.

Mason Frye, you will be missed.

Back to the Grind

Well, tomorrow, I go back to school. I know it is hard to feel sorry for a person who has had 2 weeks off but there you have it.

Katherine and I have had fun with our vacation, and I think Frank enjoyed his very little time off as well.

Yesterday, Frank, Katherine, Cowboy and I went up to my classroom to prepare it for the spring semester.

This included but was not limited to:
putting the desks back in order,
watching Cowboy so he doesn't tinkle on the carpet,
reorganizing my cabinets and shelves,
keeping Katherine out of trouble,
moving my Social Studies text books,
getting Cowboy back into the room,
erasing the marker off the board from Katherine discovering EXPO markers,
Frank cleaning my new fridge
moving my desk to make room for my new fridge,
plugging in my new fridge,
moving my desk back because it didn't need to move in the first place
helping Katherine use the chalk,
teaching Katherine how to "clean" desks to occupy her,
discovering that we set off the alarm somehow,
turning off the school alarm,
finding out that I was locked out the school,
thanking God I had my cell phone to call Frank to say I was locked out of the school,
Frank getting Katherine, locking Cowboy in the room and rescueing me,
getting back to the room.
grabbing my purse,
turning out the light
and we were out.
Pretty normal day for us.

We went over to Gina and Jeff's house afterwards for appetizers and dinner. Then we drove to Dallas to stay at Grandma Kathy's house so that we could help get Christmas decorations put away. (1200 ornaments requires more than 1 person).

And now, when Katherine gets up from her nap we will go home.

New tricks of 08

Katherine has some new tricks up her sleeve....

She can name all the letters in the alphabet by sight. She is working on opposites too.

One thing she does now is hop on "one foot". I'll try to get a video of it because she puts one foot on top of the other and bounces up and down. Talk about a literal interpretation!

Relaxing.

Katherine and I have really enjoyed our last couple of days off. We ran errands yesterday. It wasn't much to write about. We just had a nice time together.

She is a little sniffly today and so is Frank. Fun times.

Katherine is watching Curious George. Frank is asleep. Nothing much else going on except that I need to do lesson plans.

08 beginning!

My first post of 2008! Wow~~!!!!

We have had a busy week! I know this is no surprise to anyone seeing that all of our weeks are busy.

Katherine and I spent last Thursday with Aunt Sue and "aunt" Bethany. We shopped on Thursday. Sue and Mike kept Katherine that evening while Bethany and I went to watch the Longhorns crush ASU. Good times.

Then we met Frank over at Kathy's for our Christmas with Frank's side of the family and for Kathy's side of the family. It was a lot of fun! Here is a recap.

Friday - Kathy, Raymond, Frank and I cook, clean and do chores.
Saturday - Megan and Co. and Lisa and Co arrive, we open a ton of gifts and then eat WAY too much. (lasagna, salad, and stuffed artichoke)
Sunday - Lisa and Co leave, we begin preparing for Kathy's sister and brother to arrive. Sherry hates the food in the UK, so she wanted a traditional Christmas dinner. This included turkey, potatoes, spinach, squash, gravy and carrots. Very yummy!

We spent our New Year's Eve at the Satterwhites eating and singing karoke. Today we went back over to Kathy's for ribs and blackeyed peas.

My house is a mess and I am exhausted. But what a fun holiday we have had so far!!!

Tomorrow we rest. Well Frank goes to work but Katherine and I rest.
