Super awesome, totally great weekend!
On Thursday, I met Frank at a Starbucks half way between his work and my workshop. From there, Kathy drove me and Katherine to Ennis so we could meet my parents. Then Kathy took Mom and Dad’s Tahoe to Dallas. Mom, Dad, Katherine and I took my Explorer to grab some dinner then head home to Mexia. All of this will be important later…I know right now, you don’t care what type of vehicle we drive.
So, at dinner, we went to a local place in Ennis named Don Jose’s. It was good food but certainly your local yokel hangout. Katherine was pretty clingy at first. I think she must have thought I was leaving her. Once she got some mini-corn dogs and fries in her, she was much better. Yes, I know, a corn dog at a Mexican food place is odd. I just didn’t feel like ordering beans for a fussy toddler. Can you say gas?
We made it home while Katherine listened to the Care Bears movie for the 3rd time on the Explorer DVD player. Dad was quite amused that I could quote every line and knew each song by memory.
On Friday, Mom and I got up with Katherine and headed out to Kerrville. We were on our way for a girl trip adventure!
We left at 8:00, went to HEB for pull ups (cause I forgot to pack ‘em). After a quick stop by the donut shop, we were on our way by 8:30.
We got to Kerrville by 1:30. It only took one bathroom break and lunch break to get there. Mom and I traded off driving so that helped. Side note about lunch; a fire truck was parked out front of the Wendy’s. Katherine really enjoyed looking all around the BIG truck!
An hour after we arrived at Grandmother’s home, Katherine was asleep and so was I. I couldn’t believe that I took a 2 hour nap, can’t think of the last time that has happened.
Between arrival and nap time, I had to blow up Katherine’s bed. Wait, that sounds bad. Let me explain, Mom got Katherine an air mattress with a Princess sleeping bag attached. She loved it.

This is Katherine "helping" me.

After happy hour (woo hoo!), Grandmother made a lovely light dinner of roasted chicken and Caesar salad.
We then headed out to the Point Theatre. The Point Theatre is a local community theatre that is nestled in Hill Country. I’ve been going since I was Katherine’s age. This was her first visit! We saw High School Musical. Very nice production and I know that my 5th graders will be in awe that I had this opportunity. Katherine was mesmerized. She watched, cheered and clapped at all of the right places!
Saturday, we spent a leisurely morning on the back porch watching the hummingbirds and roofers. Grandmother’s next door neighbor, Ann, is having her roof replaced. Surprisingly, it was not too loud to be disturbing and Katherine just loved it! She was fascinated by watching “the men”. I hope that is not a precursor to her future. :)
Grandmother fixed me French toast for breakfast. I love my Grandmother’s French toast. It is just divine.
So, of course, after the dishes were done, we went shopping! Mom and I bought Little Mermaid and Bedknobs and Broomsticks. The Care Bear movie was getting old.
Once we got home, Katherine took such a hard nap that we were an hour late arriving at my Aunt Carol’s for dinner. The dinner was to celebrate Aunt Carol’s birthday and Mom’s upcoming birthday. After much rehearsal, Katherine was able to say, “1-2-3, Happy Cake!” The dinner was totally yummy!
On Sunday, we headed to church. My grandmother introduced us to the congregation and the ministered noted that we had 4 generations sitting in the pews. That was neat!
Afterwards, we headed over to Acapulco’s for a good Mexican food lunch. Aunt Dixie, Jim and Nancy joined us. Dixie is Grandmother’s sister, Nancy is her daughter, Jim is Nancy’s hubby. It was a great meal and even better company.
Katherine fell asleep in the car, and stayed asleep on her bed for another hour and 15 minutes!
OK, now comes in the importance of the car situation. We headed out to get me to the airport. I was flying to Dallas because Mom and Katherine are not planning to come home until Wednesday morning. Mom wanted the Explorer because it is easier to make a long trip if Katherine has a movie to watch. So, of course, the DVD player screen broke. That was a fun melt down. (both by Katherine and myself).
I flew home and Katherine, apparently, looked for Purple Planes (the Southwest plane) all of the way home.
By today, Mom had already purchased a new DVD player to put in the Explorer. Smart lady.
All in all, we had a WONDERFUL weekend!
Oh by the way, Frank went to Austin for a boy’s weekend of playing golf. He came home with a cold and fell asleep by 8:30. Must have a been a good weekend!

Tuesday
We certainly have been staying busy in the Sullivan household. Katherine amazes us everyday with new little quips and actions. She loves to give us a thumbs up and say, "you betcha!".
I have now completed the 2nd day of a 12 day(or 3 week) workshop. It is intense and I am supposed to do a lot of writing. My short rants and quick thoughts don't work so much for this workshop. I'm learning new things and making new friends.

Wednesday
I'm so sorry that there is just nothing exciting to report. It's just an average Wednesday
Katherine's swim class "Parent Day" is tomorrow. I hope to have pictures soon!

Our little Nemo
Katherine has been taking swim lessons again. She is doing just awesome! She has already passed one level. That means that she jumped in the pool by herself and held her head under water while swimming the length of the pool.
Isn't that awesome!?! I am so proud of her!
