Tuesday .... late

Well, it was very hard, but I left Emily with Frank tonight at the hospital.  I need a good nights sleep.  I know it is for the best but it was very difficult to leave her.

Last night, we got 3 hour stretches of sleep.  Emily took a 2+ hour nap this morning, then woke up to eat and play.  She took a 2 hour nap this afternoon.  Frank and I actually slept while then too.  It was good for us.  Aunt Sue spent time with Emily tonight so Frank and I could get away for an hour or so.

Emily's oxygen has been lowered to 23% (average person is on 21%).  She has other stuff that she has to get through but the oxygen is the biggest. We ultimately want her to breathe on her own and keep her oxygen saturation levels (how much she takes in) at the upper 90s.  She also has to have very little or no (forgive me) phlegm and gunk in her lungs and nasal cavities.

I don't think I even understand everything but I am getting there.  I love her team of doctors.  Each morning, her entire team that consists of 8 medical personnel meet with Frank and me to assess and discuss Emily and only Emily.  How cool is that??  At any time in the meeting, I can stop them and ask for clarification.  I can ask complication or simple questions.  Nurses and Resp Therapists also come in on a consistent basis.  She has 2 RTs, Maria and Ben.

Dad came up yesterday to hang out with us.  It was so nice to have my daddy there to be supportive.  He hung out with Emily while Frank and I came back to Kathy Ks for dinner last night.  I got to take a shower which now is such a luxury!  We owe Dad BIG time because he had to change 2 poopy diapers.  I think between Katherine and Emily that brings his total up to 3....major stuff for him. Dad gave us peace of mind for a couple of hours and provided good company in the meantime.  He even shared his Coke with me! Now that is love!

Kathy K has provided a home base for us. Monday she kept Katherine and drove her all the way to Granbury to meet Mom.   She has cooked dinners, provided beds for Frank and Dad and brought us lunch today.  She got BBQ from Sonny Bryan's per our request.  Apparently, Sonny Bryan's is a very scary place that makes very good food.  Talk about sacrifice!  She also provided us a parking pass and meal coupons so that we wouldn't have to pay for them out of pocket.

Mom has Katherine in Granbury.  She has done bath time, bedtime, school drop off, school pick up, gone to lunch with Katherine, grocery shopping, done homework, taken phone calls, listened to me, listened to me cry, worried about Emily and been strong for it all.  I spent a lot of time in hospital from age 0 - 8 so she has some experience.  I don't know how she did it....this has been tough enough!

We have received messages from Ruth, Megan and Lisa offering encouragement, love and prayers!

Thank you to all.

You know, everyone should be so lucky to have family like we do.

I am hoping we will be able to go home on Thursday.  Tomorrow would be nice, but I hesitate to bring Emmy home earlier than needed.  Pray that Frank and I will be able to make the decisions that are best for Emily and our family.
