Swimmer's Ear

Katherine told me on Monday that her ear hurt. Now if you know Katherine, you know she has a very high pain tolerance. She previously would go 6 weeks with an ear infection or a week with strep and never complain.

So when she said her ear hurt....I knew it really hurt. Tuesday night, she woke us up crying that her ear hurt and we discovered that she her ear was draining. It was gross....really gross.

I took her to the doctor yesterday thinking it was an ear infection and her eardrum had burst. Oh how I wish that had been of the case!

She has swimmer's ear. Apparently, swimmers ear is very, very painful. We have antibiotic, ear drops and lots of Tylenol and Advil. She calls out around every 4 hours crying "ow, ow. ow" I have started giving medicine every 3 1/2 hours to try to prevent that. Also, she finally had some ice cream today. She hadn't eaten since noon yesterday.

Add to that, she can't swim until Saturday. Luckily?, she hasn't felt like swimming.

I feel so sorry for her. Pray for her to feel better soon
