We have all been watching the weather and news closely. As most of my readers know, our family beach house in Galveston was a target of Hurricane Ike. We do not know the extent of the damage yet.
Below is a photo that brings chills... a 20 foot wave coming over the King Titan statue. The statue is a memorial to the Hurricane Isaac in 1900. The 1900 Hurricane killed over 6000 people in Galveston and was the reason the seawall was built. The seawall hopefully saved lives this time.
