1st day at daycare

Thursday was big day for me! It was Emily's first day at daycare. I decided that it was a better idea for first day at daycare to NOT be my first day back to school. My goal was to get both girls to school/daycare before 7:30 a.m. This is because I have to be to school by 7:30. Basically, it was a test run.

So we were up and out the door by 7:10...not bad. I dropped Katherine off at school first. She is going to the same preschool (Crosstown Lutheran, in honor of Owen and Wendy) that she attended last year. Her first day was August 24 so no big deal on Thursday with drop off. I left Crosstown with no fusses.

As I drove to Emily's daycare, I was as stoic as possible. I did not want to get upset before I arrived. Of course, 15 seconds into taking Emily into Ms. Charlotte's house, I started crying. Therefore....I left immediately. I was out of there by 7:35....not bad! A teary phone call was made to Frank immediately followed by a slightly histerical phone call to my mom. Thank goodness, I had a massage scheduled for 9:00 a.m. (thanks to Frank!). By 11:00 and many tears later, I was fine. I called at noon to check in on her. She was fine, of course. So I treated myself to a pedicure. After what seemed days of waiting, I picked Katherine up and then we went to get Emily at 3:00 p.m.

When I picked her up, Emily rewarded me with her very first smile.

It was beautiful....and I cried again.

I'm honored. Missouri Synod is close enough. ;-)

I'm glad your trial run went well. It's good to know that if you can't be with your kids, someone who loves them and cares for them is there.
