This week, the girls and I left for Kerrville for a visit with Grandmother Dreier. We met at an RV park in Ingram to do a little camping why we were there. Mom and Dad have a cool pop out trailer that has a mini-kitchen and 2 king size beds. We were under a shade tree and directly next to the river. There was even steps leading down to the river where the girls spent quite a bit of time tossing rocks into the water. The actual RV park also has free wi-fi, inside restrooms and showers, onsite laundry, a kitchen and a very nice pool! The place is actually called By the River.
On Wednesday, we arrived about 1:00 and got settled into the camper. After a failed attempt at getting Emily to take a nap, we headed over to visit Grandmother. The girls were quite charming and my grandmother was excited to see them! Grandmother is doing just awesome in her retirement home. She seems truly happy. She has a funny roommate named Lollie who keeps her entertained. Later that evening, we all went over to celebrate Aunt Carol's birthday. Katherine and Emily kept everyone entertained with their knock-knock jokes. My cousin Wes and his girlfriend, Brenda, surprised Aunt Carol with a visit from Florida. Cousin Stephen was there too. We had a great time and great food too!
That night was well....interesting......Emily really, really, really, really did not want to sleep. She was running around the bed, jumping up and down, saying, "shhh! quiet!". Finally, Mom got her settled down and we were home free....we thought. Sometime in the middle of the night, Emily woke up screaming and crying. She was running around the bed absolutely terrified! We think she had a bad dream. So we finally got her settle from that. Sometime later she woke up crying again. This time it was a leg cramp. She finally settled down again. The benefit was that we all slept til 9 the next morning. Talk about tired though!
Thursday morning, we took the girl's to the pool and they swam for an hour and a half. We sent Dad to the camper to get picnic/sandwich stuff. He brought it back just in time to feed the girls without us hauling back to the camper. It worked out great!
Mom and I left Dad with the girls and headed to Belk's to shop with Aunt Carol. Dad had Katherine watching a movie on NetFlix (bonus on the free Wi-Fi!) and got Emily down for a 1 hour nap. I am sure she would have slept longer but.....well.....apparently, Emily had an explosive diaper that ended in Dad having to put Emily in the camper shower. oops.
Mom, Aunt Carol and I had a wonderful time with our shopping! We found some killer deals, Aunt Carol is a superb bargain shopper. That evening we took Mom to LaFour's Seafood for her birthday dinner (which was Saturday). The girls were great and the food was super great!
Emily slept much better the next night so it made Friday better. That morning, Emily and I stopped for a quick visit with Grandmother and headed out the door. Grandmother was getting to participate in the Beautiful Grandmother's Day. They brought people in to her retirement home to do manicures, pedicures, facials, makeup and hair. They even served champagne and fruit! (Lollie said the only facial she would get would be if they could give her a face lift. ha!)
Katherine stayed for one more day of camping and Emily and I got home by 2:00 that afternoon. I put her down for a nap and made Frank take us both out to eat later that evening to Hoffbrau.
We really did have a good time and it was great to see Grandmother!
