As usual, we haven't stopped since we got out for the summer. These past two weeks, we were in Dallas. It has been a blast!!
Week One, Both girls have been enrolled in swim lessons. Emily and I spent this week participating in Mommy and Me lessons. She did really, really well except that she didn't ever want to be out of my arms. She clapped, cheered "Weeee!" and "Yea, I simmin". Katherine was in day camp at Episcopal School of Dallas in addition to her swim lessons. Her first week was "Fancy Nancy Camp". Just in case you don't know, Fancy Nancy is a little girl who loves to dress up, pretend and use "fancy" words like "extraordinary", "miraculous" and "ooh laah". She went on hikes, had a tea party, had a water day and a pajama day.
In between, Mom and Dad came up to Kathy's for a few days. We celebrated Father's Day early. I took Dad to see Pirates of the Caribbean 4. It was an adventure because we wanted to make the 12:25 showing but we didn't leave until 12:10. After traveling around NorthPark Mall to find the theatre, we made it into the theatre 20 minutes late. It was one of those driving times where we could see the theatre but couldn't get to it! Surprisingly enough, we made before the previews were over. The movie was very good and very funny. It was a nice way to celebrate with my dad. We ended the evening with steaks, baked potatoes and salad. Yum!! Mom and I celebrated Father's Day by getting mani/pedis earlier that morning. :)
On Saturday, Katherine and I went to Target to get Frank a Maverick's Championship Shirt. When we returned Katherine said to Frank, "Daddy....we bought groceries and gold fish but we did NOT buy you a t-shirt!". We are still working on keeping secrets....
Week Two, the girls continued their swim lessons and Katherine attended Creative Arts Camp. It was a whirlwind week! Thursday, I sat in the swim instructor's home to watch Emily "preform" for swim class. She is getting to be a real fish. I picked Katherine up on Thursday and she told me that her ear hurt and she didn't want to go to swim lessons. Seeing that Katherine lives to swim and swim to lives, I knew something was wrong. I immediately took her to the same Urgent Care that treated in Emily in January. Yep...swimmer's ear. Good times.
Ear drops + Tylenol + lots and lots of patience = much happier Katherine.
Friday, Katherine preformed in her Creative Arts Camp play. She played the Brown Mouse. Her 2 lines were, "Look out, look out! The bear is waking up!" and "We made it! We made it! We reached the top!" I was so proud of her for saying the lines loudly, clearly and with enthusiasm. Proud Mommy moment!
It took us about 4 hours to pack up all of our junk that had accumulated over the 2 weeks. We were glad to be home but sad to leave Dallas.
It was a wonderful 2 weeks. Thank you, Kathy, for hosting, planning, providing fun for and loving us!!
