Happy Birthday, Kathy!!
Kathy and I met about 10 years ago.
The first time I met Kathy was at her home. She put her hand out and said, "Hi! I'm Kathy Kinser. Welcome to my home."
It was from that moment on that we became great friends.
Our friendship truly began with the first party on the 4th of July. For the party "theme" drink, we decided to make Vodka Watermelon Lemonade. The recipe called for a 1/2 cup of fresh squeezed lemon. I sat squeezing lemons on Kathy's grandmother's very tiny glass fruit juicer. (it was about the size of a ring holder.) After what seemed like hours, we checked the progress only to find out I had successfully squeezed approximately 3000 lemons and produced 1/16 a cup. We took one look at each other, laughed, had a sip of wine and decided to buy a bottle of lemon juice.
Thus began our journey....
We talk on the phone all of the time. It began when I discovered that Frank would wash raw chicken from the store, place it in a zippy bag and then wash it again before we cooked it. Apparently, something he had learned from Kathy. I didn't understand then (nor do I now) why we had to wash it before it went in the bag if was to be washed again. But, for once, I didn't argue...much....I just went along with the craziness.... Now, we call each other and say, "I'm washing chicken!"
We have thrown a number of baby or wedding showers...more than we count. We are so good at it now that it could be done blind folded.
We have taken trips to the beach house that, as a result of many an event, sent us into laughter that caused sore stomach muscles later. I remember one particular time that we took a girls trip and played a word game. By the end, I was screaming answers like, "FARMER!!!!!!!!!" and no one could determine if it was correct because the laughter was so loud.
We've decorated her Christmas tree, done odd jobs together, shopped for furniture fabric in the rain, and had mani/pedis together....
She has welcomed my parents into her home without question and developed a friendship with them separate from Frank and me.
I am blessed to have you as a friend, Kathy. My girls adore their GaGa. Frank and I are so very lucky to have you in our lives and as a part of our family.
We love you. Happy Birthday!
