What a lovely visit!

We had a wonderful visit with Ruth this weekend.  She arrived on Saturday.  This was a good thing as I was so exhausted from teaching the week before Christmas break and the girls were exhausted from "learnin'" that we were all (except Frank) asleep by or before 9 p.m.!

In the afternoon, we simply just chatted and enjoyed each other's company.  By 4:30, Ruth and I were both read for a nap.  Frank woke me up at 6:15 to a meal of BBQ smoked pork roast sandwiches, ranch style beans and cole slaw.  Yum!

Afterwards, we decided to go look at Christmas lights.  Our downtown square is completely decked out and the nearby park is decorated like a winter wonderland.  We listened to Christmas music.  We listened to Katherine's oohs and aahs.  (she had 3D glasses to make the lights even more lighty!) We listened to Emily say "cool" and "wow".

Once home, we opened packages from Nana Ruth.  The girls were blessed with bubble bath, books, stuffed animals, an ornament and keepsake music boxes!  Frank got salt and pepper shakers shaped like UT jerseys and I got 3 mini Yankee Candles.  As a couple, we got an XPress to go.  It is such a neat little contraption.  Basically, it has the pan of a George Foreman grill and you can make everything from omelets to panninis to cherry surprise!  It is really, really, REALLY cool!

Katherine immediately wanted to take a bubble bath in the Gingerbread Girl scent.

Church was nice and Katherine snuggled against Nana almost the whole time.  I picked Emily up from the nursery in the last hymn and she rewarded the couple behind us by blowing them a kiss.  The mom even told Ruth, "Your granddaughters are just precious!"  Ruth beamed, Frank and I beamed, the girls beamed.  After church, we sent Ruth back to Leander.

She made excellent time in her return.  It was a lovely visit!  Thanks for all the wonderful memories, Nana!
