I got a call from Katherine's school on Monday at noon that Katherine had a fever of over 100 degrees. I put in for a sub, made plans and picked up Katherine.
Nurse Cindy, the school nurse, told me that strep was running amuck (sp?) in Katherine's school.
I called her doctor.
The doctor confirmed our "fears" that yes, indeed, Katherine has strep. I immediately made an appointment for Emily whom I left at Charlotte's for the time being.....chances are if it walks like strep, looks like strep and quacks like strep....then it is strep.
Frank stayed home with both girls today. He took them to their 10 a.m. appointment where it was confirmed that Emily also had strep. (Side note: Katherine received her 4 yr vaccinations shots, yes she is 5, during this visit). Emily also received her flu shot and Katherine almost received a SECOND flu shot. Luckily, I was able to get a hold of Frank to confirm that Emily needed the shot but not Katherine!
Anyway, this is a long essay to say....both girls have strep.....bummer.
Props to Frank though! He managed 2 sick children, went to a doctor's appointment, got them lunch and went to grocery store. All in the normal day of a mom...um...I mean parent.
