On the way home, we decided to leave earlier and later so we could stop by another place featured on Diner's Drive-ins and Dives. This was called Kenny and Ziggy's Deli. It wasn't too out of the way and, truth be told, I think we found a quicker way around Houston!
Kenny and Ziggy's is an authentic Jewish New York Deli.
We started our meal off with complimentary pickles. (that's right....pickles). Most places have crackers or bread or chips and dip.....they had pickles that K&Z pickle themselves. I have to admit they were really yummy.
Frank had the pastrami and cornbeef sandwich with macaroni salad. It was bigger than his head!
I had the club salad which featured lettuce, tomotoes, cucumbers, avacado, bleu cheese, bacon bits, fried onions and fried chicken. (I don't know how Jewish this recipe is but it was oh so good!) There were so many fried onions on top that I put them on a separate plate as an appetizer type thing.
We topped our lunch off with a HUGE slice of strawberry cheesecake.
Again, we were able to bring home half of our dinner.
Cool way to end a cool vacation!
I told you this was a BIG sandwich!
