May I update you on May?

So I've neglected the blog for the last 3 weeks. It has been very busy but in a good way!

For Mother's Day, we went to Mexia to visit Mom and Dad. We, of course, met at Hyden's BBQ. This was Emily's first taste of barbeque. I'm not sure if she liked the sauce but she dug the turkey! We went the girls home with Frank and Dad while Mom and I went shopping. I found a new pair of shoes (black ones) and 2 very outside of my box outfits. I also picked up some makeup. We also went to WalMart because we always go to WalMart.

That night Mom made my birthday dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and peas. I certainly stuffed myself. Then I got presents...oh I love presents! Mom and Dad got 2 tickets for Mom and I to see "Little House on the Prairie, the Musical". More on that later but I was so excited I got teary eyed....how's that for awesome! For Mother's Day, I got some new monogrammed towels for our master bath. Since our old ones didn't even produce lint in the dryer anymore, I felt this was a very thoughtful gift!

Sunday was a lovely day. We went to church and had a wonderful visit for the afternoon. Frank and I left with Emily around 3:00 or so. Katherine stayed with Mom and Dad for a full week of one on one time with Mimi and Papa. We received daily updates that included all of Katherine's activities. She had a tea party, planted a fairy garden, picked strawberries and went to Dallas Aquarium.

Dad took her to the Dallas Aquarium while Mom and I went to the musical on Saturday. First, Mom and I went to eat at PF Changs. We gorged...it was divine. Then we walked it off by going to Nordstroms to find me a new pair of shoes (brown ones this time) We enjoyed watching the pretty people as much as the shopping!

Our musical adventure was totally enhanced by the absolute perfect parking spot we got. We pulled all the way through so we didn't have to back up to leave. I know that sounds dumb but I am telling you, we were WAY excited about it. So back to the show, the music was awesome and Melissa Gilbert (Laura on the TV series) was really wonderful. The minute she walked on stage, the whole audience erupted in applause. I looked like a little kid watching the dolphins at Sea World....totally invested in every moment of the show. When it was over, I must have talked for 2 minutes straight before taking a breath. Did I mentioned that I loved it?

Katherine and I ended up spending the night with Kathy K that night. I was exhausted after our full day....We got up on Sunday morning to head home. Katherine was certainly excited to see her Daddy!

Oh did I mention that loved the musical??

This week has been pure survival for me. 2 weeks left of school and the kids are itchin' for summer....I've got the full on rash for it. Friday night, I fell asleep by 7:30 just as an example of my exhaustion.

Yesterday we went to the church to take our obligatory church directory photos. The pictures turned out pretty good but we were the definition of a young family when we entered the church. We were supposed to be there at 11:30 for our 11:40 appointment. We walked in a little out of breath and wind blown at 11:42. It wasn't a problem and we didn't have to wait too long. The girls were looking adorable in their pink Easter dresses and Frank and I looked pretty good ourselves. (Wendy wrote on an earlier blog that she was grateful that a camera wasn't there to dispute our claims) Well....the whole purpose of this was to be in front of a camera.

Like I said, the photos were pretty good. Although, Katherine resembled the poster child for misery in one and Frank and I looked like we had smelled one of Emily's diapers in another. That particular one made Frank and I laugh so uncontrollably that I think we offended the "photo preview lady". She kept going back to it....which made it even worse! So we kept laughing. More than once, she said different variations of "I don't know what is so funny...I think it is a nice photo" I finally looked at her and said, "Your kidding, right?". She wasn't as patient after that so I bought the nicer package to make up for it.

Today has been a lovely day because it is Confirmation Sunday in our church. I am/was the mentor for one of the confirmands, Emily. It was a lovely service and I was so proud of Emily. She did beautifully on her parts of the service.

Thus ends the month of May....almost. We have one more week of school. Katherine has one more speech class and her Preschool Graduation is on Thursday. Emily is now pulling up on everything she can get her hands on. Frank...well.....Frank is trying to survive us during the month of May.
