Excuse Me?

On Friday, we headed to Dallas to housesit for Kathy.

Saturday morning began at The Orignal Pancake House.

We were wrapping up eating our yummy pankcakes when a very nice woman told us that Katherine was a beautiful little boy.

Um....what?

I smiled politely, and said "thank you."

Then she told us again. Excuse me?

I smiled bigger, and...again...said, "thank you."

Granted this woman was elderly.
Granted Katherine was wearing a green t-shirt
Granted we were in Dallas, where I guess little boys all have long hair

But, I don't think she looks like a boy.

Regardless, I'm letting her hair grow a little and encouraging her to wear a bow...or more pink.

I felt like I was back in my own childhood when I was mistaken for a boy many times because of my short hair.

We went to Target to get Katherine some new summer sandals. We got rainbow sandals and pink princess sandals.

Then we went Northpark Mall. We went into Build a Bear where Katherine created and dressed her bear as Ariel from Little Mermaid.

Hopefully, noone thought she was a boy at that point.

I once visited my grandma at the nursing home with my dad. When we walked into her room, Grandma asked my dad, "Who's this little guy you have with you?"

I was 16.

Granted, she was toward the end of her road with Alzheimer's, but still. Ouch.

I think Katherine looks very much like a little girl. Though Alzheimer's is hereditary, so don't take my word for it.
