Friday
Katherine and I headed straight to Mexia from school. We left around 3:15 and got to Mexia a little before 6. We had to make one stop for gas and potty. We also had to do a turnaround in Cleburne because Mommy got confused. I was making such good time so talk about irritating! At any rate, we arrived to a Mimi home cooked meal. My mom had ham, black-eyed peas, cheesy potatoes and a fruit salad ready to go. Katherine tried to tell me that she wasn’t hungry. I told her that was fine but she still had to sit at the table and lo and behold, she practically cleared her plate. As did everyone else! Oh man….my mom is such a good cook.
So we all lasted till about 9ish and we were asleep.
Saturday
Mom and Katherine made French toast for breakfast. (My fav!) After that, we 3 girls headed to Waco for some shopping. Dad had a full day of work at a Habitat for Humanity house. He is on the local board and super involved with them. I’m so proud! Anyway, first we went to the fabric store. I know…exciting, huh? Well, we were picking the fabric for the baby’s nursery. I went in looking for either Peter Rabbit or pink toile. 2 ½ hours later (yes, 2 ½!) we came out with red & white. Here is a picture. I am completely in LOVE with it! The saleslady showed me the red option and I almost teared up. I had already shared with my mom that I would know the fabric when I saw it…and I did.

After that, we had a quick meal at Wendy’s and then went to Motherhood Maternity to get me some more clothes. I spent way too much money but since Frank is in Vegas on a guys trip, I didn’t feel toooo guilty.
We got home in time to take Daddy to Sol de Mexico for dinner. It was subpar service and okay food but great company! We were in bed early again to prepare for our early start on Sunday morning.
Sunday
We were on the road by 8:30 a.m. After a mid-morning stop at IHOP in Huntsville, we arrived at the beach house around 1:30. Katherine went down for a nap and so did Daddy. He drove the entire trip for us in the rain. Talk about tough! Mom and I headed for Wal-Mart to get everything we would need.
That night, we ate dinner at Landry’s Seafood. They are a yummy restaurant that we all love. I treated since Dad had done the drive. Funny though….this is a nice high end place and I found a piece of plastic in my veggies. BUT we got a free dessert out of it. Bananas foster covered in heated Godiva liqueur. We definitely indulged.
Everyone was asleep pretty early that night too. It was still raining.
Monday
Katherine had a croupy cough so Mom and I took her to West Isle Emergency Clinic. 90 minutes and 60 bucks later we had meds and a little one on her way to feeling better.
We got home and gave Katherine lunch and she went down for a nap. Mom and I sewed some placemats for my breakfast room
Dad worked on the house
When Katherine woke up, Mom and Dad took her to the beach. She ran and played collected shells. We had sloppy joes that night and watched The Big Bang Theory. We totally love that show!
Tuesday
We rested quite a bit. I started on a cute dress for Katherine. Of course, we had to have lunch at Benno’s . It was as good as ever. Katherine took a nap afterward and I napped….Mom went to buy fresh shrimp….Dad fished. It was great! That night, we ate boiled shrimp and baked potatoes. Yum! American Idol topped off our night.
Wednesday
I woke up with Katherine’s cold. Thanks for sharing! We just hung out for the day and after lunch we went for a nice car ride. Basically, we rode around looking at the effects of Hurricane Ike on Galveston. Things are looking good but there is still a lot of work to go.
That night was VERY interesting. Mom, Dad and Katherine headed to the beach (I rested at the house). Apparently, some unruly teenagers decided to do donuts on the beach a little too close to Katherine. Daddy and another beach family man named Ralph witnessed the whole thing. The police were called and our daredevils were hauled to jail. Yes! Victory! Mom said that the high school principal came out in Daddy….drew a crowd a bit. Yea Daddy! My hero!
We had hamburgers that night and watched the short blonde chic get kicked off American Idol.
Thursday
We packed up and got on the road. Our goal was to have a quick lunch at Shrimp & More on Avenue Q and 7th Street. 45 minutes later and 411 direction call later, we arrived at Shrimp & Stuff on Avenue O and 39th Street. Mom may be a fantastic cook but I wander about her directionality issues. Ha! The food was super good so that saved her! 3 hours later, we arrived in Mexia. Katherine fell asleep 15 minutes before we arrived home. Classic.
Friday
Today, Mom went to Kerrville to hang out with Grandmother Dreier. Katherine and I had a very nice lunch of Hyden’s BBQ with Daddy before heading home. I fought Katherine on a nap but I finally won, because she slept for 2 ½ hours once we arrived home . Yea!
Daddy is working on beach pictures to send me so those shall be posted soon.
All in all, it was a fantastic trip. I probably have left out a lot of stuff. Like Katherine doing the “big bear” voice and saying, “I am Mimi Jesus”….but it just doesn’t translate well onto the blog. Trust me, though, it was hysterical.
