Santa Baby

Yesterday, we took Katherine to visit Santa Claus. Northpark Mall has it down right. We were given a number so that we didn't have to stand in line. We were number 132. We got our number at 11:00 a.m. and saw Santa at 3:00 p.m. In between, Dad and I went shopping. Mom (bless her!) took Katherine back to Kathy's house for a nap.

Northpark was an absolute picture of Christmas. They had choirs singing, Nutcracker performances, Salvation Army bells ringing...completely got me in the Christmas spirit. We've been encouraging Katherine to give to the Salvation Army when we see a bell ringer. I give her a quarter and she puts it in the bucket. It is very sweet. I don't know if she gets why she is doing it, but I think it will pay off next year.

Katherine looked just precious. She was wearing a white turtleneck with a red & black cable knit sweater, black velvet knickers, white tights and her black mary janes. She played with the children who were waiting as well. Frank spends $4 on a bottle of water and a diet coke. It was a good Diet Coke but I'm not sure it was worth 2 bucks.

So, then I took Kathrine up to just look at Santa before she met him. We talked about how nice he is, how fun he is, how sweet he is....I tell her she is going to sit with him so he can meet her and know how sweet she is.

Then we wait, wait and wait some more.

So, it is FINALLY our turn. I walk up with Katherine and make proper introductions.

Santa, this is Katherine.
Katherine, this is Santa.

I put her on his lap and she cries. Poor thing looked completely devastated. She calmed down after about 15 seconds though. Santa is smart. He showed her a neat toy and distracted her long enough to look at the camera.

All in all, she did pretty good I think! Next year, we'll have it down pat.

Pictures soon....
