What a great weekend! Our adventure actually began on Thursday. Frank went to Dallas to trade vehicles at Kathy's house. This meant I was driving our Ford truck for 2 days. It's a great truck but I was so tired from driving it!
On Friday, Frank, Katherine and I headed over in the very tightly packed Explorer to Eli and Megan's house. With the DeArmond's behind us, we headed out for Galveston! Woo Hoo! We left at 6:15 p.m and got there at 1:00 a.m. We were all really, really tired. Basically, I put Katherine to bed and then I went to bed. Frank stayed up to relax and have a drink. I think he deserved it since he drove the whole way. (Of course, that meant that I was crawling back and forth between the front and back seat for feeding times and such)
On Saturday, Katherine woke me up at a bright 6:20 a.m! Kathy was already up so we had coffee while Katherine munched down on cheerios. Everyone finally was awake by 10:30 or so. After an awesome breakfast casserole (requested from Raymond~loved by all!), the new refrigerator from downstairs arrived. I gave Kathy a good hard time about getting this fridge. She told me the upstairs one was full, so she decided to buy another! What she meant to say was that sodas, water and extra ice take up too much room and we just need one down by the pool. But it was pretty funny (at the the time at least). We cleaned the fridge. That was fun. No details needed on that~there was mold, now there isn't.
Then we all decided to jump in the pool! Eli, Megan and MacKenzie were already swimming. Frank and I got sunblock on Katherine without too much trouble. Then we got her bathing suit, hat and sunglasses on her. Oh my gosh, she looked sooooo cute! We got her little boat with an attached shade in the water and stuck her in it. She thought this was the greatest thing EVER! She splashed and kicked and played with the water in her little boat. We took her out and let her splash around and "swim" too. I think we definately have a little water baby on our hands. She tired out after about 30 minutes. Kathy took her upstairs for a nap. That little one zonked out for a good 2 hours.
We stayed in the pool for a few more hours. When we came in, Frank, Megan and I looked like the before, during and after pictures of a sunburn. I was the before, Frank the during and Megan the lobster was the after. She is still red.....really red. That night, we had shrimp, broccoli slaw and fresh boiled shrimp. It was so yummy!!!
On Sunday, we woke up just around the same time. This time Frank got up with the baby so I could have a break. Unfortunately, I had a really bad cough and felt like I had been run over by a truck. We're not sure what hit me but I still feel bad. I was a complete slug all day. If I wasn't on the couch asleep, I was standing in a weird daze.
We did go to Benno's for lunch while Kathy & Raymond "watched" Katherine. She was taking a nap... Anyway, Benno's is our favorite cajun seafood hole in the wall place. They have Po Boys to die for! Everything is awesome. The food was good. Eli, Megan, Frank and MacKenzie had a fantastic time. (I sort of just sat there). Frank had a Shrimp Po Boy, Shrimp Gumbo and Beer. I had a Fish Po Boy and Shrimp Gumbo. Megan had the Shrimp Gumbo. Eli had the Fish and Shrimp Combo. MacKenzie had a cheeseburger the size of her head. She ate half of it though...I was impressed. (She is such a cute kid). We also got the pleasure of listening to some
Afterwards, we came back and I fell back asleep. Megan, Eli and MacKenzie went to the beach. Frank, Kathy and I decided that it was time for Katherine's first visit to the beach. We put on her little bikini and tromped down there. She was absolutely mesmirized by it. She like the water but I think the pool is her preference. We spent about 10 minutes down there. I was about to pass out.
