Let it snow, let it snow.....

Well, this has been an interesting 24 hours.

Yesterday when I picked up Katherine, it was 61 degrees outside.  The Extended Day leader told me that Katherine had a 103 degree fever.  So, last night, Frank and I were stressing out about missing more days.  I finally decided to put in for a sub and take one for the team.  We had a doctor's appointment set for this morning at 8:30.  It is pretty obvious that it is strep and I am sure that Emily has it too.

So......at 4:43 a.m. this morning, Granbury ISD called a snow day.  It is 20 degrees, snowing/sleeting and we have a fierce wind going on too.  Needless to say, noone left the house today.  So I didn't have to sacrifice a sick day but Frank did...which we were trying to avoid....but they shut down the 2 highways he needed to get to work.

Katherine's doctor's office is closed too so I am guessing that I will be calling in a sub for tomorrow.

Here are some photos.  And yes, I know my Wisconsin buddies are laughing at the fact that a little ice shut down the ENTIRE metroplex and surrounding areas.

A lot of reporters from here are down by you for the Super Bowl. One of them said this:

"Skipped Media Day to do some Dallas weather features. Never have I seen something so relatively manageable shut down so much so fast."

But having lived there for a short time, there's really no reason for the Metroplex to get good at snow and ice removal. It just doesn't happen that much. Our public works departments convert garbage and recycling trucks to snow plows whenever it snows. It's easier for you all to just stay home till it melts the next day.

BUT, one thing is universal: snow days are perfect days for making cookies and soup. I hope you get lots of both!

Feel better, girls!
