Thursday morning, Frank and I were up by 4:30 a.m. We got Katherine into the car and we were off to Cook's Childrens in Fort Worth. We thought she would sleep the whole way but she didn't...of course. She was, however, in a suprisingly good mood and it helped that she was wearing her Minnie Mouse pajamas and sparkly tennis shoes.
Cooks Children is a well oiled machine. We were at the registration desk at 7:00 a.m. From that point until 8:30, they had us filling out paperwork, answering questions and prepping Katherine. It was good because we didn't have to sit around doing nothing for more than 10 minutes at a time. At 8:30, they gave Katherine "giggle juice". I wasn't sure how it would effect her....well, she was hysterical...here are few quotes.
Staring at the ceiling....."Tooooo-day, tooooo-day, toooooo-day"
Looking at her heart moniter....."That is sooooo coo-welll.
Saying hello to our minister.... "Fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa"
Then she just stared glassy-eyed and mouth agape at cartoons.
She was wheeled back at 8:59 and by 9:13, Dr. Palmer was standing in front us. He reported that Katherine came through really well. The main thing was that Katherine has very large adnoids and that was preventing her from breathing well. She was very, very congested...all of the time. But now it is all fixed and we were home by noon. Yea!!!
Of course, Katherine fell asleep on the way home. She seems to not be in any pain so we are grateful for that and for the successful surgery.
