This morning was awesome! We set out for our 10:00 a.m. "appointment" at the Gaylord. Every year, the Gaylord does a full display show of sculptures in all ice. It is totally neat. Our adventure began at 7:15 a.m. I got myself ready, fed Emily, got Katherine ready, finished getting myself ready, comforted Emily, finished getting myself ready, got Katherine finally ready, and finally got my makeup on...oh the joys of motherhood! Actually, it wasn't bad, just chaotic.
Once we arrived in Grapevine, the real adventure began. From the parking place to the actual Ice! entrance, I would say we walked at least mile...or as it was later called, the Ho Chi Menh trail.... Katherine just sat down at one point and said, "I'm tir-red." The first thing you see is the Gaylord Hotel Atrium. It is equipped with a train set, 50-foot tree and waterfall. Really cool! Then we walked the other half of the the HCM trail to get to Ice! I'm was certainly grateful we purchased our tickets last night! Then we had to put on huge blue parkas and negotiate a baby, a 4 year old, our purses and a camera. (p.s. I was sweating by the time we exited despite the 23 degree temp)
The Ice! display, itself, was amazing. The whole thing is about 6 - 7 rooms of complete ice. Ice Grinches, ice Whooville citizens, an ice Slide, and a live size nativity display in...you guessed it....ice!~ Katherine slid down the kid's ice slide and not to be outdone, I went down the 40 inches and taller people slide. You have, of course, seen the photos although no photos were taken of the slide because Gaga was dutifully holding Emily during this time.
Once we exited, I was sweating like I said, we sat down to watch the end of the Grinch movie and Katherine devoured some chex mix I brought for her.
We ended our outing with a wonderful lunch at Mi Cocina.
I ended my outing with Kathy keeping both girls while I went for a mani/pedi..um...NICE!!!
Tonight, Frank and I are taking Katherine to our friend Jen and Jason's. Kathy is keeping Emily. We couldn't be more excited about celebrating New Year's Eve with our big girl!.
