This morning started without incident. Apparently, I should have never left the house.
At 8:30 a.m., Katherine and I headed out to the church. Katherine attends Kid's Day Out on Tuesday and Thursdays. I got her dropped off around 9:00 and grabbed a chicken biscuit and Sprite at Mickey D's.
From there, I went up to Brawner for a visit with my friend, Pam. Between home and all of these trips my car died once. I just restarted it and really paid it no nevermind.
When I got back into my car at 10:00, I had 2 missed calls and had a voicemail. It started with, "Hi! This is Rhonda at the church. Katherine is fine but..." We all know that the "but" is where all was not fine.
Basically, when heading out the door for recess, Katherine was swarmed by 4 or 5 yellowjackets. They stung her neck and cheek. She was immediately given Benedryl and observed. But I'll give it to Rhonda...Katherine was, in fact, just fine. She cried at first but was very brave after the initial shock wore off.
While I was listening to the messages, returning Rhonda's call and calling Frank to inform him, I did what any responsible driver would do...I started the car and started driving to head home. Well, I didn't get too far and my car died. I restarted it and kept driving. It died again...I restarted. Lather, Rinse and Repeat all the way to the Goodyear shop.
That was at 10:30. I watch them perform every diagnostic test possible on the car, clean out the fuel injector and take it out for a test drive....to no avail.
At one point, I tried to even get home...and it kept dieing.
At 1:10 p.m., I'm in the Goodyear courtsey truck being driven to my 1:30 doctor's appointment. Her heartbeat is great, I've gained no weight and my blood pressure was suprisingly low. At 2:00, I'm done. Goodyear comes back to get me.....at 3:00. They were very nice to me. Jay the Goodyear repair man even asked how my appointment went.
(Somewhere in there, I call Rhonda to say I'm going to be late to get Katherine. I also realize that I've not eaten anything but a stupid, gross chicken biscuit at 9:00.)
By 3:15, I am able to putter and sputter out of Goodyear. The good news is I was charged nothing...because the part they need isn't in. The bad news is that all of the work they did was in vain because my car died off and on all the way to the church. I managed to get the car into the parking lot. Rhonda was sweet enough to bring us home. I just left the car at the church.
So, in we walked to the house. It was still standing. I'm thinking that although it wasn't a great day....it wasn't bad. Things could be worse!
Then I realized that in all of my adventures....
I lost my cell phone.
